FAQ about the 4x4 with a rooftop tent

Can I drive on the F-roads?

Yes, the Dacia Duster 4x4 gives you access to certain F-roads (including the iconic F35). Some Highland routes remain unsuitable for this vehicle, though, especially those with deep river crossings, very rough terrain, or more technical mountain roads, which require a truly rugged 4x4.

How can I recharge my devices during the trip?

The vehicle is equipped with USB-A ports as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for navigation and music. This way, you can keep your phone charged throughout the trip.

Is it difficult to set up the rooftop tent?

No, the tent sets up in just a few minutes thanks to its freestanding base. We'll explain everything during the briefing before your departure, and no tools are needed.

How many people can sleep in the rooftop tent?

The rooftop tent is designed for two people, featuring a comfortable mattress that is 140 cm wide. If you're traveling with three, a ground tent is provided for the third person, complete with a mattress, sleeping bag, pillow, and extra dishes. Everyone is taken care of.

Where can I cook?

You can cook outdoors with the provided gas stove. Take place at your camping table to prepare your meals in the great outdoors. Some campsites also have covered indoor areas where you can cook while being more shetlered from the weather.

Do we get cold at night in the rooftop tent?

The tent is well insulated with a thick waterproof and windproof fabric, designed for Icelandic conditions.

What license do you need to drive the 4×4?

A standard Class B license is enough. You must be at least 21 years old and have held your license for at least 2 years.

What is the difference between a 4x4 and a camper van?

The 4x4 with a rooftop tent gives you access to the trails of the Highlands and brings you closer to nature with an authentic camping experience. The converted van offers more interior space and comfort, with a bed that's accessible without having to step outside. Both options are great for exploring Iceland, it all comes down to personal preference! We even wrote a complete blog post to help you make your choice.
